FAQs
This varies from person to person. Some clients attend for just a few sessions, while others prefer longer-term support. We offer therapy on a session-by-session basis, or in blocks of 6 or 12 sessions. Your therapist will regularly review your progress with you and help you decide what feels right.
Therapy sessions range from £78 to £108 depending on the therapist’s experience and the type of therapy used. All of our therapists are highly trained and experienced. Based on your needs, you may be recommended a specialist approach such as CBT or EMDR, which may influence the fee slightly. We’ll always discuss options with you before booking.
Some people see therapy as a negative expense, but a subtle shift in perspective can make all the difference. When you view therapy as an investment in your present and future well-being, it becomes far more meaningful. Very few things that cost more than therapy will make you feel better — emotionally, mentally, and sometimes even physically.
Therapy offers a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges at your own pace. Your therapist will listen without judgment, help you make sense of what you’re experiencing, and support you in building tools to cope more effectively.
Together, you’ll work towards developing self-awareness, understanding unhelpful patterns, and building emotional resilience. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, low mood, grief, relationship issues or simply feeling stuck—therapy can help you find clarity, calm, and direction.
Yes, therapy is confidential. Everything you share with your therapist is treated with the utmost respect and privacy. All therapists at Benfleet Counselling follow strict ethical codes and are bound by the confidentiality guidelines of their professional bodies (such as BACP or UKCP).
There are rare exceptions where confidentiality may need to be broken—such as if there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, or if required by law. These situations will be fully explained in your first session.
We are also fully GDPR compliant, which means any personal information you share is handled, stored, and processed securely in line with UK data protection laws. You have the right to know what information is kept, how it is used, and to request access or removal at any time.
At the heart of our practice is creating a safe, confidential, and trustworthy space where you feel free to speak openly.
Yes, we offer both. You can choose to attend therapy in person at our comfortable, private rooms in Benfleet, or online via secure Zoom sessions—whichever feels most convenient and comfortable for you.
Online therapy is ideal if you prefer the flexibility of working from home or live outside the local area. It’s just as effective as face-to-face sessions and still offers a personal, confidential space to talk.
We’re happy to discuss which format might suit you best during your initial enquiry.
